A metric weight measurement denoted a thousand grammes.

A kilogramme is a metric measurement for a volume measured by weight.

The word kilo is is derived from the greek word meaning “a thousand” and is used as a pre-fix in words such as kilometre, kilogramme or kilobyte to express a thousand of that unit.

We often denote thousands today by simply writing “k” after a number, indicating it is a volume of X thousands of whatever unit is is in.

MyEChef Ltd has adopted the International System of Units (metric) for all of its recipe specifications as opposed to the Imperial scale.

Most weighing scales still offer both metric and Imperial so that you can compare.
